Funding Opportunities

Faculty and staff members are invited to advise the staff of the Office of Research Administration of their interests so that we may direct announcements that come through the office to appropriate persons.  Sites and libraries that may offer funding opportunities are listed below:

  • FEDERAL SOURCES

  • NYC & NYC SOURCES

  •  HUNTER INTERNAL GRANTS

  • FOUNDATIONS & NON-PROFITS SOURCES

  • GRANTS.GOV
Hunter College is already registered with Grants.gov.  No further registration is required.

  • COMMUNITY OF SCIENCE (COS)
In order to provide you with improved information on funding and expertise, the Research Foundation has purchased a license for the searchable grants database, Community of Science (COS).  Through COS, researchers now have an additional resource and powerful tool for locating and applying for funding opportunities from numerous public and private sponsoring agencies and organizations.  Please click here for the memo  with more details.

  • FOUNDATION DIRECTORY ONLINE
Foundation Directory Online provides access to an unprecedented wealth of timely, comprehensive information on grantmakers and their grants. Included is a database of the entire universe of over 96,000 foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities in the U.S.; a database of over 3,500 sponsoring companies, offering a quick pathway to corporate funders; a database of over 1.5 million recently awarded grants; and a keyword-searchable database of over 561,000 recently filed IRS Forms 990 and 990-PF. Unique funder portfolios organize additional funder-specific content in one convenient location and include: grantmaker-related news, job opportunities, and Request For Proposals (RFPs); grantmaker-sponsored publications; and officer and trustee affiliations.
Access can only be granted by computers on the Hunter College campus.  It is a part of the library's online databases.  Please click here to access the database

  • LIBRARY
The Office of Research Administration has a reference library to assist in searching for possible funding sources.  The Research Administration has recent issues of the Federal Register, the current edition of the Foundation Directory and various other reference guides issued by the Foundation Center, and other publications on proposal writing and newsletters on funding sources.

  •  THE FOUNDATION CENTER
The Foundation Center located at 79 Fifth Avenue, welcomes visitors to use its reference materials. The Center is now open six days a week.  For information on its hours, see www.foundationcenter.org.
