Robert J. Buckley

Robert J. Buckley came to Hunter College in 1969 and has served as Director of Research Administration since 1977. In the ensuing years, he has witnessed the growth of grant activity from averages of fewer than 100 proposals and less than $3 million per year to the current annual levels of more than 500 proposals and$40 million. Bob is member of the National Council of University Research Administrators, the Society of Research Administrators, and the Association of University Technology Managers, and chairs the CUNY Council of Grants Officers. He is happy to discuss Broadway musicals or the New York Yankees at any time.

Carolynn Julien

Carolynn Julien has been with the Office of Research Administration since September 1988. Her background expertise in computer science have been assets to numerous initiatives of the Office of Research Administration, including keeping up to date on the Internet, forthcoming developments on electronic transmission, and office management tools. Carolynn is the coordinating staff member of the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects from Research Risks. Among her other responsibilities NSF Fastlane, tuition billing, grant related project waivers, and consultant agreements. Carolynn is a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators and has received the title of CIP (Certified IRB Professional)  from ARENA.  Her pride and joy are her children.

Barbara Medina

Barbara Medina was hired to the staff of the Office of Research Administration in 1981. She is the office manager and the office expert on personnel, including hiring procedures, personnel vacancy notices, and immigration and visa regulations. Barbara oversees the processing of more than 3,000 personnel actions each year in paper and electronic format, and her desk serves as the collection point for more than 600 biweekly timesheets. Barbara manages the office's part-time staff. 

Annmarie Rivera

Annmarie joined the staff towards the end of her undergraduate career in 1990. She now prepares most of the federal budgets submitted by Hunter College. In addition, Annmarie maintains the internal office files, tracks our library's subscriptions for annual, monthly and weekly volumes, handles the office's purchasing, and staff the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.  Please call Annmarie if you have an extra theater ticket for any upcoming performances.

Tara Smith

Tara Smith was added to the staff in March 2001, after a decade of experience in the grants office at the City College of New York.  Tara is assisting with IRB functions.

Karlene Roberts

Karlene began work in Research Administration in September 2002.  She works with the Assistant Director for Project Personnel in reviewing hiring papers for persons employed on Hunter's grants and contracts.  While a student at York College, Karlene worked in the Health Services Center, dealing with a variety of issues, and rose to President of the Intervarsity Christian Club.  She hopes to make good use of the Lexington Avenue IRT to go to Yankee Stadium as often as possible.

Malini Lall

Starting with the Research Administration in 1994 after an undergraduate  work-study assignment in Curriculum & Teaching. Malini is assisting with IRB functions.

Michelle Anne Marasigan
(Undergraduate, Hunter College)
Michelle joined the part-time staff of Research Administration late in the Spring of 2002.  Her prior experience in summer office jobs has been a plus to the office.  Michelle assists the office with computer data entry, duplicating and mailing.
